SALMON KINGS EXTEND QUALIFYING OFFERS TO SIX PLAYERS

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, are pleased to announce they have extended qualifying offers to six players.
Forwards Ash Goldie, Brady Leavold and Derek Krestanovich along with defensemen Taylor Christie and Gary Gladue as well as goaltender Billy Thompson have all received qualifying offers from the Salmon Kings.
The Salmon Kings were not required to protect players who had signed a Standard Players Contract prior to July 1. The list of players will have until August 1 to accept the qualifying offer.
All ECHL teams are not allowed to sign more than 24 players to contracts during the summer, and players on open Qualifying Offers cannot be traded.
Players that were not signed by July 1 or extended a qualifying offer by July 1 become unrestricted free agents.
A Member extending a valid Qualifying Offer to a Veteran retains the Rights to that Veteran until August 1. After August 1, if the Veteran is not signed to a Standard Player Contract by the Member, the Veteran shall be deemed a Restricted Free Agent and shall be entitled to seek and secure offers of employment from other Members. Restricted Free Agents may not be traded.
When a Restricted Free Agent receives an offer to sign a Standard Player Contract from an Offering Member other than the Member with Rights and the Restricted Free Agent desires to accept the Offer, the Restricted Free Agent and the Offering Member must, within 24 hours, deliver a completed Offer Sheet to the Member with Rights, the League Office and the PHPA. The Member with Rights shall then have seven (7) days after the date it receives the Offer Sheet to exercise its Right to Match. The Right to Match shall expire seven (7) days from the date the Offer Sheet was received but not counting the day of receipt.
If a Restricted Free Agent is not signed to either an Offer Sheet or a Standard Player Contract by a Member by August 31, he shall be deemed an Unrestricted Free Agent.

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings are proud to announce that they have renewed their affiliation agreements with both the Vancouver Canucks and the Manitoba Moose for the 2008-09 season.
The Salmon Kings will work in conjunction with Mike Gillis, Canucks' General Manager and Alternate Governor, his management, scouting and coaching staffs as well as Manitoba's Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Craig Heisinger, and his management, scouting and coaching staffs in the development of future NHL and AHL players.
Salmon Kings Vice President of Hockey Operations, Dan Belisle, worked alongside the Canucks' Gillis and Vice President and Assistant General Manager Steve Tambellini as well as the Moose's Heisinger on the affiliation agreements.
"We are extremely happy to be renewing our partnership with both the Canucks and the Moose," Dan Belise Vice President of Hockey Operations said. "To work with these two outstanding organizations has only served to strengthen our team, and that has been evident in our continued success and growth on the ice."
The Salmon Kings will move into the third year of their partnerships with both the Canucks and Moose.
"We have enjoyed a great relationship with Victoria over the past two seasons and are pleased announce our renewed affiliation with the Salmon Kings," said Steve Tambellini, Vancouver Canucks Vice-President and Assistant General Manager. "The strong local connection between the Canucks and the Salmon Kings reinforces our commitment to further develop and support hockey in British Columbia. Our relationship with both the Salmon Kings and the Manitoba Moose greatly benefit the growth of our players."

Former Salmon King Dameworth Grabs MAHL Coaching Reigns

The Chelsea Tornadoes of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League are pleased to announce the hiring of veteran defenseman Chad Dameworth as their new head coach for the upcoming 2008-2009 MAHL season.

CHELSEA, Mich - The Chelsea Tornadoes of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League are pleased to announce the hiring of veteran defenseman Chad Dameworth as their new head coach for the upcoming 2008-2009 MAHL season.
Dameworth, a native of Marquette, Michigan and now resides in Novi, joins the Tornadoes after an 11-year career in professional hockey. Dameworth began his professional career in 1995 in CapeBreton skating for the Edmonton Oilers' AHL affiliate there. Since then, in addition to the AHL he has played in the ECHL, United Hockey League, and the International Hockey League. His most recent team was the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL.
"I am truly excited about this opportunity to take over the head coaching duties of the Tornadoes," said Dameworth. "I know the city of Chelsea and the surrounding area very well and am looking forward to working with the city and its hockey fans to grow the fan base and create a stir for the Tornadoes there."
Dameworth brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Tornadoes this season. Over his career, Dameworth has worn the "C" for four separate clubs and the "A" for three others. In addition, he served as a player/assistant coach for two clubs and assisted in player scouting and recruiting for several others. He attended NorthernMichiganUniversity on a four year scholarship majoring in criminal justice.
Larry Debnar, MAHL Director of Operations, was on hand for the Dameworth signing.
"Chad is an exceptional leader on and off the ice and will certainly guide the Tornadoes and their young talent this season in the right direction," said Debnar. "The league is thrilled at his hiring by the Tornadoes and hockey fans in Chelsea will be treated to a quality group of kids on and off the ice this season."
"I am very anxious to start recruiting and building a solid relationship with the fans in Chelsea," said Dameworth.
"The upcoming rookie trout camp is just around the corner and we will be there to find the best talent available for our team and fans," added Dameworth.

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, are pleased to announce that the team's ticket department won the award as the National Conference’s best for the 2007-08 season!
The honour was handed out at the annual ECHL Communication and Marketing Meetings in Las Vegas. The American Conference winner was the ticketing department from the Reading Royals.
The award is given annually to the ticketing department which displays the greatest increase in performance and sales, voted on by league general managers and ticketing managers.
The Salmon Kings' ticketing department is led by Ticket Sales Manager Devin Mazur. Joining Mazur are ticket sales executives Duncan Gardiner and Paul Phillips.
Victoria fans made it a banner season for the ticketing department by supporting the team in record numbers. The Salmon Kings led the West Division with a total attendance of 175,354, and an overall average of 4,871 fans through 36 regular season home games. The team set organizational highs in all attendance rankings in 2007-08.
The Salmon Kings were second in all of professional hockey in attendance increase this past season with a 14.7 percent jump over the previous year. The ticketing department also increased their group sales totals by 34 percent over the 2006-07 season.
Organizational highs were again achieved as fans came out in droves during the post season. The Salmon Kings drew a league-leading average of 5,851 fans in five Kelly Cup Playoff games at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
The Salmon Kings start the season on the road in Phoenix on October 17th, and return to Victoria for the home opener on Friday, October 24th when the Stockton Thunder come to town.

SALMON KINGS ACQUIRE ROADRUNNER

Victoria completes trade with Phoenix.
Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, are pleased to announce that they have received defenseman Taylor Christie (CHRIS-tee) from the Phoenix RoadRunners.
The acquisition completes the December 5, 2007 trade that saw the Salmon Kings send defenseman Bryan Nathe (NAY-thee) to Phoenix for future considerations.
"Taylor is a proven player in this league," General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison said. "He is dependable player who will compete every night. We know exactly what he will bring to our team."
The Toronto, ON native finished last season with the RoadRunners after beginning the season with the Dayton Bombers. In a combined 65 games he notched 7 goals and 23 assists for 30 points while accumulating 47 minutes in penalties.
The 25-year-old will be entering his fourth season in the ECHL. He began his professional career in Phoenix with the RoadRunners in 2005-06 before heading to both Utah and Reading for the 2006-07 season.
Christie was a sixth round selection (195th overall) of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 203 professional games and has garnered 61 points (14g-47a).
The 6-3, 210 pound Christie spent four years at Bowling GreenStateUniversity prior to his professional career. While with the Falcons he participated in 121 games while providing 9 points (1g-8a) and 150 minutes in penalties.
