Bayside School
March 30, 2010
The Salmon Kings will make a second visit to Bayside School - the school that won the 2009-10 edition of the Salmon Kings' Hat Trick For Literacy Campaign! The students of Bayside read more books than anyone in Victoria, and will be rewarded with a special visit from the Salmon Kings to participate in a game of floor hockey and obtain special prizes!

Broadmead Lodge
February 23, 2010
Tim Wedderburn, Lance Morrison, Andy Brandt, Mike Hamilton, Taylor Ellington, and Brandon Roach visited Broadmead Lodge to meet-and-greet with a prominent senior and veteran community of Victoria! The players enjoyed an intesne game of floor hockey with the Broadmead Lodge staff, and had the chance to share stories of hockey with its residents.
Greater Victoria Public Library - Juan de Fuca Branch
Feburary 10th, 2010
Lance Morrison and Glenn Fisher joined Marty the Marmot as the Salmon Kings visited the Juan de Fuca branch of the GVPL. Both players read a book, and the kids had an opportunity to ask questions, color, and read!
Berwick Royal Oak

On January 19th, Gary Gladue, Mike Hamilton, Andy Brandt, and Brandon Roach payed a special visit to Berwick Royal Oak retirement home where they spent time with their biggest fans! Each player enjoyed some hockey talk, along with a tour of the brand new facility - and of course - some food!
Victoria Special Olympics Floor Hockey Team

Olivier Filion, Scott Howes, Dirk Southern, and Glenn Fisher payed a special visit to Cedar Hill Elementary to help out with practices and games for the Victoria Special Olympics Floor Hockey Team. Everyone had a great time as the games were competitive, but lasting friendships were made!
Strawberry Vale Elementary

The Salmon Kings' final stop on the Hat Trick for Literacy tour had Andy Brandt, Mike Hamilton, and Lance Morrison visit Strawberry Vale Elementary School. The players played in three continous games of hockey and read the famous hockey book "Z is for Zamboni"!
Oaklands Elementary School

Scott Howes and David Shantz visited Oaklands Elementary School to continue the push for the 2009-10 edition of the Hat Trick for Literacy Campaign! The guys played in a very competitive game of floor hockey against students and adults, and read to a gym full of eager kids!
Bayside School

Scott Howes, David Shantz, and Rob Smith visited Bayside High School in Brentwood Bay to bring their "A" Game in reading and playing floor hockey to promote the Salmon Kings' Hat Trick for Literacy campaign. The Bayside students gave the S-Kings their toughest challenge to date in what ended up as a sweat-filled affair for the players!
KOOL FM Feed People

Lance Morrison, Mike Salekin, and Brady Leavold joined forces with KOOL FM at Thirfty Foods Admirals Walk to help fill a 5-ton U-Haul truck with non-perishable and financial donations to support the Mustard Seed!
Miracle on Broad

Rob Smith and John Murray joined local celebrities at A Channel Victoria to help answer phones for the Miracle on Broad Telethon. The event was in support of Victoria Food Hampers.
Victoria General Hospital

David Shantz, Adam Taylor, Rob Smith, Jimmy Sharrow, Glenn Fisher, Wes Goldie, Brady Leavold, Mike Salekin Andy Brandt, Dirk Southern, and Lance Morrison brought some Christmas cheer to the pediatric ward of the VGH. The players brought handfuls of teddy bears for the children courtesy of the Teddy Bear Toss, played board games, painted, signed autographs, and even enjoyed some afternoon snacks!
Queen Alexandra Children's Hospital

Tim Wedderburn, David Shantz, Rob Smith, Lance Morrison, Glenn Fisher, Gary Gladue, Scott Howes, Brandon Roach, Taylor Ellington, and Brady Leavold visited the Queen Alexandra Children's Hospital with very special presents! The Salmon Kings' players brought the children bags full of teddy bears collected from the prior weekend's Teddy Bear Toss! The boys also played some floor hockey, signed autographs, and enjoyed some laughs.
McKenzie Elementary School

David Shantz, Taylor Ellington, and Rob Smith were on hand at McKenzie Elementary School in Saanich for the second stop on the Hat Trick For Literacy Tour! The Salmon Kings players read to some eager students, and then matched up against the students and teachers in a game of floor hockey!
Frank Hobbs Elementary

To kick off the Salmon Kings' 2009-10 Hat Trick for Literacy campaign, Marty the Marmot joined Lance Morrison, Mike Salekin, and David Shantz as they read to the students of Frank Hobbs Elementary, and participated in a hard-fought game of floor hockey - with Frank Hobbs edging the Salmon Kings by one goal!
CFAX Santa's Anonymous Gift Wrapping

Salmon Kings players Lance Morrison, David Shantz, Adam Taylor, Chad Painchaud, Mike Hamilton, Brandon Roach, Scott Howes, Wes Goldie, Andy Brandt, Dirk Southern, Taylor Ellington, and Brady Leavold put all hands on deck to help CFAX Santa's Anonymous wrap presents that are to be distributed to children and families who are less fortunate. Competition ran high between the 12 players as each attempted to wrap more gifts in shorter periods of time!
Mustard Seed Dinner

Salmon Kings defenseman Mike Salekin and goaltender John Murray were on hand at the Mustard Seed's Christmas Dinner to help serve up some holiday cheer. Both players played he role of server, providing those less fortunate with a hot turkey dinner, desert, and many laughs!
Greater Victoria Public Library - Saanich Centennial Branch

Lance Morrison, Mike Salekin, and John Murray joined mascot Marty the Marmot at the Saanich Centennial Branch for an afternoon of reading and autographs. The players also answered questions about their hockey career, their reading preferences, and how many teeth they have remaining!
Times Colonist Raise-A-Reader Day

Marty the Marmot lead the way with Wes Goldie, Tim Wedderburn, and Adam Taylor at his side selling newspapers on the corner of Government and Broughton in an attempt to raise money for literacy campaigns in British Columbia!
