Victoria Salmon Kings:  Equipment Manager

Department: Hockey Operations, Team Administration/Operations
Title: Equipment Manager
Location: Victoria, BC
Reports to:  General Manager/Head Coach

Job Description: The Equipment Manager is responsible for the purchase of all necessary equipment and the implementation of team and league wide usage. In addition, the Equipment Manager is responsible for all skate sharpening and equipment repair and maintenance for the Victoria Salmon Kings.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Transport and set up all the necessary equipment for all home and road games
  • Maintain and order the inventory
  • Maintain the equipment room in a professional manner
  • Create and manage the budget for the department.
  • Manage a staff of part-time assistants. Coordinate of duties and payments
  • Participate in all industry wide meetings as directed
  • Maintain a professional manner at all times
  • Upkeep of the training room/equipment/locker room. Cleanliness is a must.
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience: The ideal candidate will have served as an assistant or equipment manager for another professional sports team, college or high school team. Good attention to detail, solid record-keeping, good relationships with vendors and trustworthiness are a must.

Skills:

  • Proficient Skate Sharpening and Skate Repair abilities
  • Proficient Sewing Abilities
  • Strong Time Management and Self-Motivation
  • Fluent in Microsoft Word; Excel; and Outlook


Compensation: Based on Experience

The Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre and Victoria Salmon Kings are looking for an efficient, highly motivated and energetic individual to be Controller

Program: Finance
Title: Controller
Location: Victoria, BC

Summary: This position supports the CFO in coordinating and preparing the financial reporting for the organization.

Reports To Corporate Controller (Head Office)

Responsibilities

  • budget development updating and reporting
  • compile and analyze financial information to prepare accounting entries to accounts such as general ledger accounts
  • update schedules to support financial statements;
  • balance sheet reconciliation, preparation and completion (includes supervision and training of staff to assist in similar procedures);
  • month-end financial statement preparation, year-end financial statement preparation, and forecasting;
  • month-end operating statement preparation, year-end operating statement preparation, and forecasting;
  • preparation of monthly remittances, including GST/PST
  • preparation of audit working papers and information for tax returns
  • initiate, establish, modify, document, coordinate implementation of new accounting and accounting control policies and procedures in all areas (includes training staff);
  • apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports/statements;
  • monitor and recommend enhancements to the internal controls;
  • delegation and supervision of responsibilities to all department staff ;
  • approval of invoices and payments and stewardship of the assets of the company;
  • maintain strong relationships and liaison with banking facilities, suppliers, other RG operations and general business community
  • other duties as required.
Qualifications Required:
  • Financial analysis skills
  • Good Interpersonal skills
  • Work well as a member of a team
  • 1- 3 years experience in a related position


Education:

  • Professional accounting designation or senior standing of professional designation; or equivalent relevant experience
